Three steps.
Actually, two.

Copy text. Press ⌘⇧T. Flit starts translating.

1

Copy anything

Copy a sentence or paragraph, or capture an image containing legible text.

2

Press ⌘⇧T

Flit opens from the menu bar, loads your clipboard, and starts translating.

3

Read. Copy. Done.

Hit ⌘⇧C to copy the translation, or just read and press Escape.

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

Flit is designed to stay out of your way and appear only when you need it.

⚡

Instant clipboard

Flit reads your clipboard the moment the window opens. No paste, no click — translation starts immediately.

🖼️

Image OCR

Press Control-Command-Shift-4 to copy a screenshot with text — a product label, a menu, a sign — and Flit reads it with OCR before translating.

🔍

Auto language detection

Paste anything. Flit detects the source language automatically. No dropdowns to fiddle with.

📋

Translation history

Successful translations are stored locally. Search the original text or translated text in History.

📌

Pin mode

Pin the window open while you read the original side-by-side. Flit monitors the clipboard for new text while pinned.

🌐

18 languages

Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, and more.

Translation with
local history.

Translation happens on your device using Apple's on-device framework. After language packs are downloaded, default on-device translation works offline. Flit does not operate a translation server.

  • No account or sign-in required
  • Default mode works offline after language packs are installed
  • Clipboard is read on opening and while pinned
  • History stored locally, never uploaded
  • No advertising or developer-operated analytics SDKs
  • Fully sandboxed macOS app
🔒

On-device by default.

Flit uses Apple's Translation framework. Default mode processes translation content on your Mac.

Optional high-fidelity mode uses downloaded Apple Intelligence models when available and otherwise falls back to on-device translation. Privacy Policy →
